Four New Pentium M and Celeron M Processors Boost Intel's Mobile Line
As Little As 7 Watts

Notebook PC vendors have new CPU choices, as Intel Corp. has added two models apiece to its Pentium M and Celeron M lines of mobile processors. All four use Intel's 0.13-micron process technology and 400MHz front-side bus speeds and are optimized to balance battery savings and performance.

The Low Voltage Pentium M at 1.3GHz and Ultra Low Voltage Pentium M at 1.1GHz have thermal design power (TDP) specs of 12 and 7 watts, respectively; each has 1MB of power-managed Level 2 cache and is designed to join Intel's 855 chipset and Pro/Wireless network adapter products in the company's Centrino mobile platform. They're priced at $284 and $262 respectively in 1,000-unit OEM quantities.

The 1.4GHz Celeron M ($134) and Ultra Low Voltage 900MHz Celeron M ($161) have 512K of L2 cache and are rated for 24.5 and 7 watts respectively. The Celeron M is Intel's newest CPU for the mobility value market, compatible with both the 855 and 852GM chipsets.
